The Dragon Rider Challenge: an 8-week live round, August 10–October 4.See the Challenge

Do the programs include weapon work?

Yes. The programs include follow-along, fantasy-themed weapon movement as part of the workouts. Practice weapons are used as props to build strength, conditioning, and coordination. The training is choreography rather than martial arts: we do not teach partner fighting, actual sparring, martial-arts forms, or self-defense, and no previous experience is needed.

Each program has its own weapon themed movement:

  • Dragon Rider features the most sword movement, with sequences that build across the program.
  • Lunar Rise weaves staff (bo staff) movement into its flow and mobility work.
  • Assassin's Ascent works across four phases with a curated list that includes a katana, shuriken, and daggers.
  • Valkyrie Reborn brings in broad sword movement alongside its strength work.

The weapons are not shipped with the program, but they are not required to get started either. Inside each program you will find a curated weapon list with the specific ones Charity uses, including brand recommendations and links (Amazon and a few other places), and many members pick a variation based on budget or style. Premium members see the lists for every program they have access to. You can also absolutely start with something you have at home, like a broomstick or a piece of PVC pipe, especially while you are getting going.

If the weapon movement is the draw, Dragon Rider (sword) and Assassin's Ascent (the widest weapon variety) lean into it most, with lighter weapon work in the others.
