A story you love
This course is for you if…
You know the story you'd give a special place on your shelf. You can start here with a book, a few basic supplies and room to learn.
$47 when it opens Friday, November 13. Then $97.
- You have a favorite book, or a fic, that deserves a special edition.
- You've watched bookbinding videos and wished someone would walk you through it from start to finish.
- You're a complete beginner, or you've tried before and want to know why each step works.
- You've felt held back by measuring, tools or cost.
- You want to make your own creative choices, not just copy a tutorial.
- You'd like to learn alongside other people, without gatekeeping or jargon overload.
Before your first cut
Where beginners actually get stuck
You might feel stuck before you've even started: on the shopping list, the measuring or finding someone to ask. This course is built around those three worries.
“I'm nervous about measuring.”
You don't have to feel confident with a ruler to begin. The course keeps measuring to a minimum, with options like tracing your text block. If you prefer exact measurements, you'll find those instructions too.
“It looks like a lot of stuff to buy.”
You don't need a whole studio of tools to make your first rebind. You can choose from three supply lists, from about $23 to about $92, not counting your book. Many items have swaps you may already own, so you can choose what works for your budget.
“I don't have anyone to ask.”
You deserve explanations that make sense when you're new. Every phase ends with answers to common beginner questions, and Avrial hosts occasional live support calls for students. You can also ask questions in the community during your two-month Basic trial, or any time while you're a member.
$47 when it opens Friday, November 13. Then $97.

Avrial
Founder of Denver Binder's Club
- Binder for nearly three years
- Teacher by trade
- Nearly two years of monthly meetups with professional artisan binders
- Free weekly tutorials on Instagram
- Host and guest instructor of monthly binding workshops
I started binding almost three years ago because I loved stories, fanfic especially. When a story left me emotionally wrecked for weeks, I couldn't leave it on a screen or in a worn-out paperback. I wanted to give it something beautiful to live in.
I taught myself from online tutorials, friends, books, and more library books than I can count. For nearly two years, I also met monthly with professional artisan binders here in Colorado. Seeing the craft from their side changed how I work. I learned methods and styles that rarely show up in online tutorials, from people who travel the world for this art.
Today I run a monthly club for fanfic binders, where we work side by side, share advice and learn from each other. I'm also a teacher by trade. I want you to learn in an order that makes sense, with the why behind each step and someone to ask when you're stuck.
You can learn bookbinding for free, and I post free tutorials every week. This course brings professional technique into a path you can follow as a beginner, with options for your budget and room for your own creative choices.
I want to ungatekeep this art, and I'm so excited to build this cozy, creative space with you.
